Whenever I need a good silk blouse I can usually find one in my mom’s closet. She has real silk vintage blouses that she has collected and friends have given her over the years. It makes vintage shopping much more convenient and less musty ;). This fleur de lis one is from Ann Taylor and …
Blue Suede Shoes
There’s something about blue suede shoes that inspire songs. I am loving this particular pair from Marc Fisher. They have a flared block heel which is super on trend and they’re in my favorite navy blue. Being petite, I love the low ankle because it gives a leg lengthening affect. I’m also enjoying showing how …
Punk Rock Presence
As a child of the 90’s the recent resurgence of 90’s fashion has me like – really? I now understand on another level what my mom was feeling when I used to go through her trunk of clothes from the 70’s looking for buried treasure. Since we are destined to repeat themes of former fashion …
Blushed
Blush is one of my favorite spring neutrals. Though lately I’ve been going out of my comfort zone and playing with color more, my default is always neutrals. But even I can’t totally embrace black in the summer so with the warmer months coming blush is a nice neutral to stock up on. The right …
Vested Interest
According to the calendar it’s officially Spring but here in The Mitten mother nature hasn’t quite gotten there yet. As such I have to resist the urge to put away all my sweaters and pull out my espadrilles and sandals. It’s not an easy thing to marry Winter and Spring together. No two seasons could …
No Stone Unturned
One of the things I love most about fashion is its ability to make you feel like you can do anything. Like when you’re excited to get dressed in the morning because you’re feeling inspired by putting things you already have together in a new way. Shopping your closet is one of my fav ways to get a new perspective and that helps carry over in my attitude for the rest of my day. Accessories are the best and easiest ways to update and add interest to an ensemble that’s been around more than you care to admit. I’ve probably worn this combo of wide leg jean and tuxedo jacket a million times but adding the ear cuff elevated it to new heights. So open your closet, grab your fav outfit, and then mix it up. Add a different cuff bracelet, statement necklace, or shoe and voilá! You’re ready to see things differently today!

Monochrome State of Mind
I’ve never been interested in rules of fashion. In fact, I was embracing trends long before I knew there was such a thing. I’ve always felt like rules were meant to be bent, nowhere more so than in fashion. Here is one that I actually can get behind though – monochromatic dressing. As someone who needs 2 inch heels to reach 5 feet tall and is constantly asking people to reach the top shelf in the grocery store, I can appreciate anything that makes me look taller. The trick is to add interest by playing with texture. Here I’ve played with knits and leather and added layered wrist-wear for a little extra something. After all, every girl needs a little bling ;).
Hint: Any writing on your jewelry should be worn so those looking at it can read it right-side up.
